Steve Vernon is the associate executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas and is a board member of the Baptist Center for Ethics.

1. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Happy, Texas, just south of Amarillo in the Texas Panhandle.

2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?

Romans 8:28.

It is a reminder that God is never finished with us and no situation is unredeemable.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

"Secondhand Lions."

It touched both my heart and my head, and I am a fan of Robert Duvall.

4. Who are three of the people you admire?

James Dunn, Clovis Vernon (my father) and Bill Pinson.

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I started out my ministry training intending to become a minister of music.
