1. Where did you grow up?

I bounced around; my family is all from a little town called Plain Dealing, Louisiana, and we moved when I was 9 to Nashville, Tennessee.

2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?

Romans 5:10.

This verse really caught me sideways the first time I read it. I have continued to think about its alternate focus from standard Baptist thought since.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

"To Kill a Mockingbird."

Atticus Finch is the ultimate moral hero, and namesake for my son.

4. Who are three of the people you respect?

Thomas Jefferson, Johnny Cash and Robert Parker (author of the Spenser detective novels).

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I once gave a piece of gum to a nervous Willie Nelson while working as a janitor at his son's wedding rehearsal.
