1. Where did you grow up?

I was born in Staten Island, New York, but I spent most of my life in South Florida.

The Gospel of Luke.

Its emphasis on the inclusive, boundary-breaking message and "prophetic acts" of Jesus.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

One of my favorite movies is "Contact."

Its intersection of science and faith, affirming that there is room for both in the human search for knowledge and meaning.

4. Who are three of the people you admire?

Daniel Goodman (my undergraduate New Testament professor), Jim Martin (retired pastor of Lithonia First Baptist Church) and Kristina (my wife).

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I still write things by hand – most sermon manuscripts, letters to friends and a journal.
