J.V. McKinney, retired from a 38-year career with the YMCA of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Bristol, Tennessee, now enjoys taking photos for free for organizations that really make a difference, like the Baptist Center for Ethics.

1. Where did you grow up?

Forrest City in the Eastern Arkansas Delta.

2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?

The book of Ruth.

I really enjoy the way the book develops the Hebrew theme of "hesed" - God's active lovingkindness and devotion.

3. What is your favorite movie? Why?

"Forrest Gump."

I love his pure heart, tenacity and ability to give his best at whatever life brings.

4. Who are a few of the people you admire?

Besides my family, Stan Musial, Eleanor Roosevelt and Preston Clegg (my pastor at Second Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas).

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I played baseball in college.
