Eatonton, Georgia.

Genesis 32, where Jacob is wrestling with the angel of the Lord.

I love that picture of struggling with God over holy things.

It appeals to my liberal arts education and helped recover the writings of Walt Whitman for another generation.

4. Who are three of the people you admire?

Wendell Berry, Walter Brueggemann and Mary Oliver (contemporary poet).

5. What is one little known fact about yourself?

I was one of the first male cheerleaders at my college and cheered for one season. A slightly better known fact is that I like to oil paint.
