2. What is your favorite Bible verse, book or story? Why?
The book of Jeremiah.
Its portrait of a courageous voice of truth to power, which includes words of comfort and hope to a devastated people and a proto-incarnational covenant theology.
3. What is your favorite movie? Why?
“Inherit the Wind.”
Its portrayal of the sacred partnership of religious faith and scientific inquiry and discovery (and the challenges thereto).
4. Who are three of the people you admire?
In addition to family, the late John E. Steely (teacher and colleague at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary), the late Jean Hendricks (teacher, former dean and colleague at Mercer University) and Duane E. Davis (colleague at Mercer University).
5. What is one little known fact about yourself?
I enjoy playing the piano (privately) for relaxation.
